  • Significant surface water, below 80% coverage
  • Atmosphere consisting of nitrogen, oxygen, trace elements
  • Habitable by humanoid life
  • Subdivided into type 1-4, indicating most to least suitable for humanoid life (TNG: "The Bonding")
