Original creator is Nekogami, previously managed by UnclePervy. Predominant resident race is Alahi drow.

Briefly

"Alahana is the traditional home of the Alahi drow. It is a capitalist's dream; much like Nekonia in many ways, the Alahi believe in self-sufficiency and success. Failure is not punished by the government; punishment itself usually comes from how the Alahana society treats the errant individual. Alahana is a collective society.

"The government is a democracy with a State Chief, the head of state, and the Tribe, the regulating body. Both Chief and Tribal Members are voted into office. The Tribe has 53 member from each of the main cities and surrounding areas.

"Alahana hasn't changed much at all since it's beginning. There were always separate tribes of the Alahi drow but they seemed to get along very well, both in trade and whenever Alahana was threatened by neighboring islands. Wars between tribes were few and far between but usually very violent as extreme insults were the result of conflict.

"In 1209, the tribes met at their yearly meeting and decided to unify under one leader but still have representation of each tribe. The chieftains decided to give the power to the Alahi people and allow them to vote for who should be the state Chief. Elections ran for a year and it was decided that Maarkus Aareli would be the Chief. Then for 6 months representatives for each area were voted in and set up for state. Bourswa, home of Aareli, became Alahama and capital of Alahana.

"Few other major changes have taken place."

Flag

Specifications: The flag of Alahana is a rectangle divided into three regularly-shaped horizontal bars. The lowest bar should take up exactly half of the flag and be colored red-brown. The middle bar should take up exactly one-fourth of the flag and be colored black. The topmost bar should take up exactly one-fourth of the flag and be colored a deep blue. In the lower right of the flag, completely within the lowest bar's edges, the seal of portuna should be placed. The flag should be made in proportions of 3:5, with the circle being 2 units in diameter.

Symbolism: The lowest and largest bar of the flag represents Gaera and her significance to Alahana. On this field only can the symbol of Gaera's reward to her worthy, portuna, be placed. The middle bar symbolizes the Alahi themselves, springing forth from Gaera. The topmost bar represents the sky, from which the Alahi are to pluck down the clouds and stars to present to Gaera in their impossible task of repayment for her gifts.

The horizontal layout of the flag's primary components derives from the horizon itself. The seal of portuna is represented as a bird flying toward the sun or moon, the mythical portal to portuna.
