- Initial conflict occurred early 19th century when Vulcan Defense Force vessels first reached Romulan territory
- Romulan forces immediately recognized them as their originators, kept their own identity hidden from them out of fear of being recognized as the Sundered (ENT Novel: Uncertain Logic)
- Somehow prompted by the actions of Quinn (VOY: "Death Wish")
- Romulan efforts focused on repelling Vulcan vessels from their territory, otherwise largely a cold war (ENT Novel: Uncertain Logic)
- Occasional strikes made against Vulcan holdings purely to keep them contained, but no major battles for duration of the war (ENT Novel: Uncertain Logic)
- War ended early 20th century with the rise of Praetor Sartorix (ENT Novel: Uncertain Logic)
- Sought to redirect efforts from fighting Vulcans to shaping them, reforming their society through infiltration to a position where they would be appropriate for returning to the Sundered, reunifying them into a single people (ENT Novel: Uncertain Logic)
